Line up the tequilas, wax your mustache, and prepare yourself for a Mexicana-infused party that you’ll never forget. We could have gone with an intro like that to hype this thing, but we prefer to be honest. Hot Fiesta puts up an entertaining looking and noisy facade, but if you give it a whack, it falls apart like the hollow plastic piñata it truly is. It’s a run-of-the-mill shelf-filler release if we ever saw one, and it probably took Pragmatic Play 10 seconds to figure out the whole thing.

Core Features

You get multiplier wilds up to 5x in the base game, and all wilds are multiplier roaming wilds during the bonus round. Not something we would dance on the table for, and you’ll probably need more than a few drinks to have a good time here.

The Ante Bet and Purple Piñata Wild

It’s probably a good idea to decide up front whether or not you want to go with the Ante Bet feature switched on. It will increase the price per spin with 40 %, but this doubles your chances of triggering the bonus round.

The purple piñata wild can land on all 5 reels, and it steps in for all regular pay symbols like wilds usually do. Wilds can land with multiplier values of 2x, 3x and 5x, and thus boost any winning combo they are part of. If more than 1 multiplier wild is part of the same winning combo, the respective multiplier values are added together.

Bonus Round and Free Spins

The fireworks scatter needs to land on reels 1, 3 and 5 to trigger the Bonus Round. You will get an initial scatter win of 3x your stake, and then you’ll see a grid of 9 piñatas explode one by one. Each exploding piñata reveals a number, and they are all added up to become your total free spins amount between 9 and 27.

During the free spins feature, all wilds you land become roaming wilds for the duration of the bonus round. Each wild comes with a multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x, and they move randomly to new positions per spin. You cannot land scatters during the free spins round, so the feature cannot be retriggered.

Review Summary

Hot Fiesta is similar to a lot of the modern pop music being churned out every day. It might be catchy and appealing at first, but the lack of any real depth or soul soon sinks it into oblivion. The fiesta theme is filled with Mexicana clichés, and the game comes across as one of those manic party people who desperately is trying to keep up a happy facade.

It’s not really a fiesta we would want an invitation too, but each to his/her own. As for the gameplay, you get the occasional multiplier wild win to keep you afloat through the base game grind. You’ll need to get at least 2 or 3 roaming wilds going pretty early to make the bonus round interesting, but there are plenty of “hotter” Mexican-style parties to attend in the world of online slots.
